Chow is a Carnegie Mellon University professor and expert on power and status and how people can use their power and status to either maintain existing inequalities or attenuate them. In addition to directing executive leadership programs through the Tepper School's Executive Education office, she has spoken at organizations like the WNBA, BNY Mellon Bank, PNC Bank, and Google Cloud/Workspace. Her consulting clients include Kaiser Permanente, Genentech and others.
